Frederick Stambaugh & Rosanna Dively

Frederick Stambaugh was born in Manheim, Pennsylvania in 1791/1792 to Peter Stambaugh.  As a young man Frederick moved with his family to Bedford County where he eventually settled in Greenfield (present day Blair County), showing up on his own in the tax records by 1815.

Rosanna Dively was born in 1788, most likely in Frankstown Township, before moving as a young girl to Greenfield with her family.  It appears that Rosanna may have been the daughter of Jacob Adam Dively and Anna Barbara Ligenfelter but this has not been verified.

Frederick and Rosanna married around 1820 and started their family in Greenfield.  When Frederick’s father died in 1830, Frederick purchased the 120-acre property in St. Clair from the estate and moved his family there.  Frederick was a farmer and, typical of the time, he also generally had one to two horses and one to two cattle.

Together Frederick and Rosanna raised several children – Barbara, Michael, Sarah, John, and Margaret.  They lived on the farm for the remainder of their lives.  After Frederick’s passing in 1870, their son Michael took over ownership of the farm.  Rosanna passed away in 1878 at the age of 90 and was buried next to Frederick in Old Union Cemetery in Osterburg.
